Maria Ramos Academic Scholarship

Maria Ramos became a sister of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated in the Spring of 2003. She was the tenth sister to pledge at the Beta Omega Chapter, here at Wayne State University.

She contributed tremendously to her chapter in the following years. She sacrificed her time and resources, without hesitation, in the pursuit of great community service opportunities, academic excellence, and quality campus and community programing focusing on education and cultural awareness.

She continues to impact the community to this day, and will forever impact our hearts. Maria Ramos is a “Universal Woman"; a woman who wears many hats, who is strong inside and out, stands up for what she believes in, and takes pride in her endless quest for knowledge.  This is the type of woman Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated Beta Omega Chapter would like to support with the Maria Ramos Academic Award.

Her achievements at Wayne State University include (but are not limited to):

  • Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incoporated's National Undergraduate Sister Award, 2005

  • Wayne State University’s Dean of Student’s Office Emerging Leader Award, 2005

  • Wayne State University's Dean of Student’s Office Program of the Year, 2005 for "Platanos and Collard Greens"

  • Edward James Olmos Event
